Italian mama's boys enlisted in fight against breast cancer
The NSW State government has launched a new campaign targeting the 10,000 Italian-Australian women aged between 50 and 74 who are not attending regular mammograms.
The campaign, called ‘Mammoni for Mammograms’ plays on the Italian word for a mama’s boy (mammoni) and calls on these mama’s boys and girls to encourage their mamas to get a mammogram.
One ‘mammone’ and campaign ambassador, celebrity chef Josh Sama said “Don’t be scared, it’s OK. You can go get it done, because you know what? You’re not only saving your life, which is most important, you’re saving our family.”
