BreastScreen Victoria’s Beautiful Women celebrates the diversity of women
BreastScreen Victoria has partnered with photographer Lisa White on Beautiful Women, a new portrait series which celebrates the contributions of LBTI women in challenging narrow definitions of femininity and perfection.
The Midsumma Festival Premier Event explores the power of lesbian, bi, trans and intersex women and the diverse characteristics of their beauty. BreastScreen Victoria has collaborated with White as part of the organisation’s commitment to recognising the diversity of women and providing inclusive services to all women.
BreastScreen Victoria CEO Vicki Pridmore said the images and messages from the Beautiful Women campaign will be used for a social marketing campaign about our services, and in publications and posters in our screening clinics.
“BreastScreen Victoria’s is committed to achieving Rainbow Tick accreditation for our services over the next 2 years, so that LBTI women can be assured that our staff will provide inclusive services that understand their needs’ she said.
Lisa White said the images tell stories of everyday lives and aim to build understanding across diverse communities.
“Part of my work as the social photographer is connecting with communities and merging social activism and art for change,” she said.
LBTI women are invited to share an image of a beautiful LBTI woman on social media using #beautifulwomen.
