BreastScreen Australia monitoring report 2012-2013

The BreastScreen Australia monitoring report 2012–2013 presents the latest national statistics in the monitoring of BreastScreen Australia. Around 55% of women in the age group 50–69 took part in the program, with more than 1.4 million women screening in 2012–2013. Breast cancer mortality in 2012 was 44 deaths per 100,000 women.

The report includes nationwide statistics as well as from each states BreastScreen Program. Here are some key statsistics from Victoria: 

  • Victoria was slightly above the national average for the age standardised participation rate in both 2012-13 and 2013-14;
  • For first round women, Victoria was slightly above the age standardised recall rate in 2013;
  • For subsequent round women, Victoria was the same as the age standardised recall rate in 2013.
